VLISSINGEN – The weather will be beautiful this weekend and there is plenty to do in the province. The PZC has listed ten events, one of which is outside Zeeland.
Funfair in Vlissingen
In Vlissingen you can enjoy yourself all weekend in bumper cars and attractions. The Kermis Festival Vlissingen has a new location, the event takes place in the maritime Scheldekwartier around the Jan Weugkade. The fair has 36 attractions and stalls and there are a music stage, food trucks and a fireworks show.
Flea Market in Goes
With no fewer than three hundred stalls, this flea market in the Zeelandhallen in Goes can safely be called ‘mega’. Collectors and bargain hunters can spend hours here looking for second-hand items. Parking is available in front of the door, free of charge. The entrance fee is 4.50 euros.
Fishing days Bruinisse
The Fisheries Days traditionally started on Thursday. The 59th edition of the village festival, with funfair, erupted and the pubs filled up the old-fashioned way again. Miss Fisheries 2022 Dorien Padmos (24) was crowned. On Friday and Saturday, various artists will perform at the bars and on the harbor plateau. The fair can also be visited on Friday and Saturday.
Ghent parties
If you want to make a trip to Belgium and party this weekend, it is best to drive to Ghent. The city is turned upside down for ten days for the Gentse Feesten. A party for young and old, where half of the food stalls have a vegetarian offer, spread over no fewer than sixteen squares. The Ghent Festivities last until Sunday 24 July.
Art in Middelburg and Aardenburg
For a nice city walk you have to be in Middelburg or Aardenburg this weekend. The international art manifestation Façade has been set up in Middelburg. The exhibition takes you through the streets of the city. The works of sixteen artists can be seen for four months during the open-air exhibition.
In Aardenburg, contemporary visual art will take center stage in the coming weeks. The third edition of the Kunstenfestival Aardenburg can be seen from 16 July to 4 September. The ambition is to be high on the European culture ladder in two years’ time – during the 5th edition. The route takes visitors through the Netherlands and Belgium to twenty locations to admire the work of 33 artists.
City of Dance Festival
You can go completely crazy this weekend at City of Dance in Middelburg. Three days of music, spread over seven stages, with more than two hundred artists on the festival site on the Oude Veerseweg. Due to the warm weather, visitors are allowed to bring sunscreen and deodorant and extra shade areas have been created.
Party evening Wemeldinge
After two years and three postponements, the big party for the 50th anniversary of the municipality of Kapelle is being celebrated in Wemeldinge. International artist Emma Heesters – from ‘s-Gravenpolder – will perform. Lee Towers, Q-Music with The (Wrong) Party and the band Back to Waterloo complete the party.
Folkloric Day in IJzendijke
Saturday is the Folkloric Day in IJzendijke again, with a parade with music, ring riders, sjezen, curling balls and demonstrations of old crafts. For the 49th time, the party will take place on the Markt and surrounding streets. Traditionally, the day is opened with the Zeeland-Flemish national anthem.
Zierikzee 1572
If you come near the Dikke Toren in Zierikzee on Saturday, you will immediately find yourself in the late Middle Ages. Zierikzee fought for our freedom at the time and celebrated the birth of the Netherlands on Saturday. The year 1572 is seen as a turning point in the Eighty Years’ War.
