Siska Schoeters responds with significant post to VRT’s largest exclusive contracts | showbiz

showbizSiska Schoeters (40) has responded to the news about the VRT’s exclusivity contracts with a meaningful post on social media. On Thursday it became known that six screen faces have an exclusivity contract of more than 300,000 euros per year. The public broadcaster had mentioned this in its annual report.

In the annual report, VRT limited itself to rough figures without names, but according to our sources, Niels Destadsbader, Tom Waes, Philippe Geubels, Karl Vannieuwkerke and Jeroen Meus are among the screen faces who earn more than 300,000 euros a year.

So all men, and that has not escaped Siska Schoeters — another VRT screen face. She posted a photo of her daughter Minnie on social media. She wrote: “I hope she can grow up in a world where hard-working women are also at the top of nice annual wages.”

According to the new management agreement that the Flemish government concluded with the VRT, the public broadcaster must from now on be transparent about the fees for screen faces and radio voices that have an exclusivity agreement. However, the Flemish government does not expect the VRT to throw out the contract details of the well-known Flemish individually. And so there is no confirmation in the new annual report that presenter Niels Destadsbader and other popular screen faces earn “half a million euros a year and more”, as ‘Dag Totaal’ wrote earlier on the basis of anonymous sources.

Earlier this week, the VRT staff went on strike against the cuts, the Thuis cast also protested:

The annual report also states that the VRT has an exclusivity agreement with nineteen external screen faces/radio voices. Two of those agreements are worth less than €100,000 per year, eleven have a value between €101,000 and €300,000 and six are worth more than €300,000. The VRT does not want to disclose exact, individual amounts. The amounts include the agreed exclusivity fee and a guaranteed sum for assignments per year.

The VRT says in a response that it is common practice in the TV sector to bind key figures to a channel and calls the rates in line with the market. In addition, the VRT is investing heavily in the training of new and diverse screen faces and radio voices, many of whom move on to the entire media ecosystem.
