LIVE | Breda is buzzing during a pleasantly busy Friday evening, long night awaits | Breda Jazz Festival

BREDA – Night falls over Breda Jazz, and Breda is buzzing. There is a lively crowd around the stages. The squares are full, the streets are perfectly passable. The atmosphere is pleasant. The second evening is really far from over.

Yes, the outdoor stages pull the plug on performances around midnight. But in the Avenue, the official program continues until 4 a.m. with the Funky Friday Midnight Party (10 euros). Many other catering establishments are also open until then. Time enough for a jazz after

Sunny day

The surprisingly sunny second jazz day again attracts many visitors to the city center of Breda. The terraces are full all over the city. However, the second day cannot yet match Ascension Day in terms of crowds. During the opening day of the anniversary edition of Breda Jazz there were regular traffic jams, and you could, so to speak, walk over the heads.

There are no long traffic jams at the parking garages. The bicycle sheds, including the extra places at Kasteelplein and Adriaan van Bergenstraat, can handle the crowds for the time being, but are filling up well.

Travelers arriving by train are greeted with a cheerful welcome. A running orchestra welcomes them at the NS station with bells and whistles. Passers-by spontaneously begin to skip or settle on the long benches.

no prizes

Traditionally, prizes are awarded on the second day for up-and-coming jazz musicians. However, both the Kobe Jazz Street Award and the Rabobank Youth Talent Award skip a year.

Cups in the water

Meanwhile, GroenLinks in the city is concerned about the plastic cups that fall into the water at the Spanjaardsgat. Unjustly, says an employee of the neighboring Bobby’s Boat.

Tips of the day

After the massively visited first day of the Breda Jazz Festival, the second day promises to be another spectacular. The Spanjaardsgat is celebrating a ‘Zydeco Party’ this afternoon with Tom Rigney & Flambeau and the River Zydeco Band. Tonight, among others, Wouter Hamel will perform in Ingenhousz.
