Chronicle of an announced departure: Nele has to leave ‘De Mol’ against will and thanks | TV

TVBye bye, aunt Nele Buys. The sympathetic 47-year-old cuddly toy teacher, from Melsele, was of course not the Mol, but a fine candidate who suffered a serious muscle tear due to an unfortunate fall and eventually had to leave the game. It provided an anticlimax after a brilliant third episode. Nele did not fill in the elimination form and was the first to receive a red thumb. In the game, the real Mole apparently kept a low profile.

The makers of ‘De Mol’ are playing the viewers and even more the ‘die hard’ fans of their favorite TV program under their feet and more than ever. After all, the real Mollots themselves are, episode after episode, analyzing, deliberating and weighing every image, every quote, every movement. Frank Focketyn, valued actor and friend of the production house Woestijnvis, which makes ‘De Mol’, was able to report after a short session of improvisational theater who ‘De Mol’ is certainly not or could possibly be. So take his analysis with a grain of salt. Those who don’t, saw their potential Mollen reduced to three: arborist Bert, receptionist Emanuelle and teacher Nele. Until a little later Nele had to give up the fight.

So that only Bert and Emmanuelle remain. We take seriously into account that the proverbial third dog could well be the Mol. And then we happily gamble after three episodes on Sven, the 30-year-old copywriter, who navigates through the game like a sphinx. He hardly makes himself suspiciously real (or so the makers make it seem), but still claims his role everywhere. Sven solved two of the three ‘rocket’ questions perfectly and also answered the third question except for one detail, the place of Uranus and Neptune in the universe. A mistake, or Mollenwerk. The fact that Yens did solve the third question well -Michael Collins as the third astronaut of the Apollo 11 mission- was quite a punishment. And clearly no Mollenwerk. Yens is also the captain of the group. Or the shrewd Mole who always molts behind the scenes.

And the others? Tree caretaker Bert counted 92 red candies. Just one too many. Aunt Nele noted this possible mole work delicately. While Bert did everything he could to put the teacher in a bad light. We now know what happened to Nele… But is Bert a confused moron or a smart and sneaky Mole?

Emanuelle was completely who she was in the previous episodes. Whining and hassle. Either she is the headstrong player who wants to score herself, or she is a nice Mole. How else to explain that she absolutely wanted to dive and lost a lot of time there, when Uma as a certified diver could handle the assignment perfectly on her own. And eventually did. Also during the rocket test Manu muddled a bit.

Uma and Philippe did zero molesting. Raised money in test 1 and played nicely in test 2.

Anke played along correctly as usual. Did her part my ‘Learn Spanish’ perfectly. Twice money in the pot. And no suspicious acts.

Cinematic surprise

Also in the third episode of ‘De Mol’ were two complete tests, which are barely or impossible to describe. The surprises was the film ‘De Zaak De Mol’, with former commissioner Deceuster, perfectly shot by Frank Focketyn, as the common thread. The Mol candidates saw themselves appearing in a nice movie, where they received extra information about the others, and had to decide when they would leave the room to start their elimination test. They didn’t know at the time that Nele would be leaving the game. So there was really no real elimination needed. It was striking that Anke was the first to leave the room, followed by Sven and Emanuelle. Yens, Bert and Nele were the last to sit. Did the gentlemen give a signal? Come and see next week!
